You are not alone....
At the Golden Women's Resource Centre our philosophy is to provide assistance and a welcoming environment to all women, in the hope that by supporting all women, we will prevent violence in relationships as well as have women comfortable with asking for help when they need it.
Outreach services are available to help with:
- Applying for legal aid, income assistance, child tax benefit, and other government resources
- Filling out legal applications, court forms
- Accessing local resources and referrals
- Computer assistance with online forms, resumes and cover letters
- Assistance with a job search
- Resources about your rights: as a woman, an employee, a tenant/landlord, mother, human
- Accompaniment and advocacy for court dates, doctor's appointments, social service appointments, and more
- Support for women experiencing violence, stalking, emotional trauma, unplanned pregnancy, and custody issues
- Assistance in securing low-income houseing and finding accommodations
- Support for women that are new to town
- Support for teens to receive honest information and support
The outreach program is unique in our community. We work to help people find the services they need. In our new consolidated, computerized world we offer help to those left-out and lacking the skills to be literate in our new faced-paced world. For many women trying to leave a violent relationship: applying online for income assistance is a huge challenge, one that might be too ambitious for someone lacking the skills and self-confidence to help herself. Applying for legal aid requires completing an application that invariably ends up feeling like a university research paper. Our outreach worker can help sort through those challenges and get people the strength to access the services they need to begin living a life free from violence.
