These women where the founders of our lovely Women's Centre. They put their hearts into create a safe and healthy atmosphere for women. All of the women, who worked here, past or present, volunteer or staff, has inner glow to helping women. <3
Peggy ChalmersPeggy Chalmers was part of the initial planning for the creation of the women's centre, then became a board member then the coordinator and ending with being on the board for the women's centre. "Golden just needed [a women's centre]!. It was as simple as that. The women's centre addressed all the "little" everyday-impacting questions to the big, controversial questions, that was the purpose" Peggy exclaimed.

Katherine FiebigOriginally from Ontario, Katherine Fiebig choose Golden Women's Resource Centre among 15 other applications for coordinator in the 90's. Fiebig is community oriented. She made the centre a place welcoming to all women. Katherine was active in the Women's Centre's library and referrals.

Linda ImlerLinda Imler became Coordinator in 1987 after working with special needs children for 8 years. A University of Calgary women and law class, sparked Imler's brain, as she created a new workshop about pornography, the legal aspect, how and what it prompts, the rights the women have in the industry, and many more. Imler opened up new doors of conversation in her time at the centre.
Jane Doel, a local, lived in Victoria for 5 years before coming back to Golden with her new found knowledge of social work, counselling and crisis intervention. Planing to use her knowledge for good, Doel was the coordinator for the Women's Centre in 1982, where she focused on issues and concerns from women.

Suzanne SeamanSuzanne Seaman's passion for backpacking and hiking lead her to Golden, where she become Coordinator for the centre in 1983. Having previously worked a a women's centre at Carlton University, Seaman planed to expand and continued to run popular programs.

Jaki Fraser, was the safe home coordinator in the 1990's. Dedicated and passionate about making women's lives better, Jaki found herself at home at the Women's centre. "She is an easy going and helpful to all", says a past client of the centre.

Cathie Green is the mind behind our local victim services. Originally, part of the Women's Centre (now RCMP), Cathie has taken it upon herself to reinstate the victim services. The first time there was not enough volunteers to succeed. Green has played a key role in training and preparing all the volunteers. Victim Services is a nonprofit that offer piratical and emotional support for victim of crime.

It does not seem like much as changed. The women still work hard to improving women's lives. Don't worry, they do make time for fun!
